The following are a collection of portals containing teaching and learning resources that can be integrated into the classroom and online learning environments.
- Blue Web'n from Packard Bell is a searchable library of instruction offered via the Internet. It offers searches by audience, type of web resource, subject, Dewey classification, or keywords.

- Carnegie Mellon Open Learning Initiative - Site contains a collection of "openly available and free online courses and course materials that enact instruction for an entire course in an online format.
- Classroom Connect the online companion to the newsletter, provides information and resources for teachers who use the Internet. See the G.R.A.D.E.S database, a Yahoo-like archive for educational resources. http://www.classroomconnect.com/

- Education World bills itself as "the place where educators go to learn" and has a keyword searchable collection of articles, resources, and lesson ideas. http://www.education-world.com/
- free-ed.net provides a directory to the "best course notes, outlines, tutorials, courses and e-texts we can find anywhere on the 'net." http://www.free-ed.net/
- Gallery of Courses Taught with Technology produced in conjunction with the Journal of Computer Enhanced Learning, "is composed of vignettes that describe the what, how, why, and impact of technology upon learning in specific courses. Readers can organize the vignettes according to academic discipline, educational notion, computer enhanced technique, assessment methodology, dates submitted and last updated, top quartile (as judged by a panel), or any combination of the criteria."

- Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM) is a consortium effort, support by the National Library of Education and the U.S. Department of Education, to create an operational framework to provide the nation's teachers with "one-stop, any-stop" access to substantial, but uncataloged, collections of Internet-based educational materials available on various federal, state, university, non-profit, and commercial Internet sites. http://geminfo.org/
- GLOBE (Global Learning Objects Brokered Exchange) - site provides links to online learning resources available for use by instructors and students. http://globe-info.org/
- Globewide Network Academy (GNA) acts as a central marketplace for distance education courses. Maintains a course catalog and provides technical services to distance educators. http://www.gnacademy.org/
- Halls of Academia a subject organized collection of links to web resources, each annotated, provided by TENET http://www.tenet.edu/academia/main.html
- Heal (Health Education Assets Library) - site provides many "free, high quality materials for health sciences education." http://www.healcentral.org/
- HippoCampus - "a project of the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education (MITE). The goal of HippoCampus is to provide high-quality, multimedia content on general education subjects to high school and college students free of charge." http://www.hippocampus.org/
- How Stuff Works - site explains hundreds of subjects, from car engines to lock-picking to ESP, using clear language and tons of illustrations. http://www.howstuffworks.com/
- Internet Archive - site houses a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Great resources for supplemental teaching resources. http://www.archive.org/index.php

- Internet Scout Report for a long time has been an excellent source of educational sites that are carefully reviewed. http://wwwscout.cs.wisc.edu/scout/
- Intute - a free online service that provides access to peer reviewed web resources for education and research. http://www.intute.ac.uk/
- JORUM - a free online repository service for teaching and support staff in UK Further and Higher Education Institutions. http://www.jorum.ac.uk/
- Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators hosted by the Discovery Channel and updated daily, "is a categorized list of sites on the Internet found to be useful for enhancing curriculum and teacher professional growth." http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/
- LoLa Exchange - learning object repository created by Wesleyan University. All units were developed by instructors and instructional design resources. May include teaching notes and assessment materials. http://www.lolaexchange.org/
- MindEdge "is a one stop destination that gives learners all the tools they need to search for, compare, and pre-register for the courses they want- whether they're right around the corner, or halfway around the world." http://www.mindedge.com/
- Multimedia Educational Resources for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) "is a free and open resource designed primarily for faculty and students in higher education. With a continually growing collection of online learning materials, assignments and reviews, MERLOT helps faculty enhance instruction." http://merlot.csuchico.edu/
- Professional Education Organization International (PEOI) - provides free course on professional topics across the globe. Instructors can also use the content in for credit course. (Materials are offered in multiple languages, so select language of choice when entering the site.) http://www.peoi.org/

- TeleCampus comes from Province of New Brunswick, offers a database of more than 7,000 online courses from a variety of educational institutions and private organizations in over than 15 countries.

- Video Lectures Network - Collection of high quality lecture videos available for adoption. All content on this site is released under Creative Commons.
- WannaLearn "has been designed to provide a wide range of users with an effective and efficient means of accessing the best free learning opportunities available on the Web, in virtually every subject and area of interest." http://www.wannalearn.com/
- World Lecture Hall (WLH) from the University of Texas, Austin contains an extensive list of links to faculty-created web pages. They are organized by subject categories. http://www.utexas.edu/world/lecture/
- World Wide Web Courseware Developers' Members Courses is a subject organized directory of web courses developed by members of the WWDEV Listserv. http://www.unb.ca/web/wwwdev/c3.html
- WWW 4 Teachers includes "Teacher Testimony: True stories of trials and triumphs with technology in the classroom" as well as "Premier Tracks: Web lessons ready-to-go and to keep students on track"

- Yahoo the mega resource, contains a directory for education that you can browse by subject or do a keyword search. http://www.yahoo.com/education/
Case Tools
- CAREO - "CAREO is a project supported by Alberta Learning and CANARIE that has as its primary goal the creation of a searchable, Web-based collection of multidisciplinary teaching materials.
The CAREO educational object repository is an ongoing research prototype. As a result it may be offline periodically for updates and upgrades to the system as the project evolves and new theories and ideas surrounding educational objects are tested and implemented. Thank you for your patience." - Case It - The goal of "Case It" is to provide a framework for collaborative case-based learning in molecular biology using interactive computer simulations, and to have high school and university students from around the world participate via Internet conferencing.
- Case Study Teaching in Science - "The aim of the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science is to promote the development and dissemination of innovative materials and sound educational practices for case teaching in the sciences. Our website provides access to an award-winning library of case materials and we offer a variety of opportunities, including a five-day summer workshop and two-day fall conference, for science faculty to receive training in the method."
- Caseplace - "CasePlace.org is a free, online service for business school faculty, students and businesses. [They] can help you find some of the best cases, references, and commentary published by and for business educators and business executives."
- HEAL (Health Education Assets Library) - "Free, high-quality digital materials for health sciences education"
- MERLOT - " MERLOT is a free and open resource designed primarily for faculty and students of higher education. Links to online learning materials are collected here along with annotations such as peer reviews and assignments."
- Pediatric Case Studies from the University of Hawaii - Contains a large number of interactive pediatric case studies.
- The Auscultation Assistant - This online multimedia resource, created by a doctor at UCLA, provides heart and breath sounds with explanations of their pathologies to help students improve their physical diagnosis skills. Author: Christopher Cable
- The Leiden-List - Access to more than 600 online lessons (you must register to gain access to the lessons)
- Virtual Mass Spectrometry - This site provides an interactive internet educational tool to teach mass spectrometry.

- World Lecture Hall - the World Lecture Hall (WLH) contains links to pages created by faculty worldwide who are using the Web to deliver class materials. At this site you will find course syllabi, assignments, lecture notes, exams, class calendars, multimedia textbooks, etc.
Wikis
- Artificial Intelligence - This Wiki is a collaboratively created and edited area dedicated to all facets of Artificial Intelligence.
- Neuroscience - Site contains a number of handouts, syllabi with a lists of readings, videotaped lectures, and detailed homework assignments developed by faculty in the discipline.

- Baruch College Interactive Guide to Using Copyrighted Media - This free interactive guide helps faculty determine the appropriate copyright guidelines they must follow to use different types of copyright protected media in their courses.
- elearnspace - "This site and blog explore elearning, knowledge management, networks, technology, and community."
- History Channels Famous Speeches Gallery - This site contains a number of video, audio, and classroom support tools that can assist you in motivating students' interest in history.
- Illinois Online Network - Site provides an extensive set of resources on such topics as instructional design, assessment/evaluation, pedagogy, communication, and many other materials useful for online course developers. Also offers fee-based online courses for faculty on online teaching.
- Inquiry through Blended Learning Resources - community developed and maintained wiki that provides a series of blended learning resources and hyperlinks.
- Instructional Design for Online Courses - Site contains a set of articles that discuss instructional issues and strategies in the online environment.
- Learn. Genetics Genetic Science Learning Center at the University of Utah.
- Learning in Hand - "learninginhand.com is an educator's resource for using handheld computing in schools. You'll find lists of great software applications for Palm and Windows Mobile computers. You'll find resources for podcasting and eBooks. Also, there's a comprehensive listing of the best sites for educators, lesson plans, classroom management tips, and more."
- Podcast Directory for Educators - This UK based site has 2000+ podcasts in their directory. All links are "family friendly" and are good examples of educational podcasting. In an effort to promote educational podcasting, they produce their own podcast - available via our RSS Feed - to feature some of the best podcasts produced by schools, colleges and other organizations.
- Principles of Online Design - "The purpose of this [site] is to provide a resource to faculty who are designing online instructional materials."
- Rubric for Online Instruction - "This site is designed to answer the question being asked: What does a high quality online course look like? It is our hope that instructors and instructional designers will use this site to learn more about the Rubric for Online Instruction, and be able to view examples of exemplary courses that instructors have done in implementing the different components of the rubric."
- Science Courseware - "The Virtual Courseware Project produces interactive, online simulations for the life science laboratory or for earth science field studies. The activities are designed to enhance an existing curriculum and include online assessments. They can be used by students ranging from middle school, high school, or college classrooms."
- Science, Optics & You - "This site is designed as a convenient location for visitors to view the various Java tutorials that have been constructed to aid in the understanding of concepts in light and color."
- Teach Online (Michigan State University, Virtual University Design and Technology Group). This site provides an "extensive collection of resources for fully online and hybrid instruction. Includes materials for course design, pedagogy and techniques, assessment, and links to other sites that offer information on many aspects of online instruction."
- The Wolfram Demonstration Project -The site provides an expanding collection of freely available, interactive demonstrations in math, science, art, and may other areas -- at all levels, from elementary education through higher education.
- Virtual Resource Site for Teaching with Technology - "The UMUC-Verizon Virtual Resource Site for Teaching with Technology consists of two modules, and each explores key issues in developing and teaching online courses with the use of technology. "
