Blackboard Tutorials

The first section of this tutorial provides information about the integration of selected communication tools into the learning environment, the distinction between the various course roles assigned within Blackboard as well as Blackboard Basics, a series of tutorials used to introduce faculty to the frequently used tools and resources for developing courses in Blackboard.

  • Blackboard Basics - this unit will introduce you to some of the frequently used tools and resources.
  • Course Roles - ever wonder about the difference between Instructor, Course Builder, Grader, and Teacher's Assistant? See the attached information direct from Blackboard.
  • Demonstrating critical thinking with discussion forums. This unit provides a series of best practices and examples for designing discussion questions that encourage students to think critically.
  • Integrating Blogs into the learning environment. This unit discusses the utilazation of group or course-wide blogs to create online learning communities.
  • Integrating Wikis into curriculum.

The following are step-by-step guides to a variety of Blackboard course tools. The most effective utilization of this resource is to view the online prior to starting an online activity that requires the tool. If the instruction set requires a number of steps, or you want to view the instructions at the same time that you are interacting with the tool, print a copy of the instructions.
